Bike Mechanic Role Summary

Your job is to keep some of the best bikes in the world well maintained, tuned to perfection, and ready for service.

The high-end Seven bikes you work on range from customer bikes, demo bikes, and prototypes. The cutting-edge kits include parts from Shimano, SRAM, and others. Electronic shifting and mechanical. Hydraulic and cable-actuated brakes.

Each Seven frameset is custom-built by hand for a specific customer. Every Seven is thoughtfully unique. Every bike and every day is different.

Bike Mechanic Responsibilities

Tune-up and overhaul Seven customer bikes for our retailer partner Ride Headquarters.
Tune-up and maintain Seven's demo bike fleet, show bikes, prototype bikes, and historic and legacy bikes.
Maintain and improve the bike mechanic tools, equipment, and workstations.
Manage service parts inventory for tune-ups, overhauls, and replacement parts.
Help Seven's framebuilding and production teams when needed.
Participate in Seven's team goals for safety, accuracy, quantity, and continuous improvement.
Commitment to developing capabilities and skills to become a better mechanic and teammate.
Professionalism: You understand what it means that your team counts on you. You are dependable. You do what you say you'll do. You communicate clearly.
Our mechanics work primarily independently but also as part of our builder group.

Required Experience

Four years of professional bike mechanic experience in a bike store environment.
You have completed at least three-quarters of Shimano's S-T.E.C. courses.
Proficient at wheel building.
You love cycling and have a particular interest in high-end performance bikes.

Additional Ideal Qualifications

Certification from a professional bike mechanic course.

Compensation: Competitive hourly wage and benefits relative to other small businesses. Benefits include partial health insurance coverage, flex time, paid time off, bike industry benefits, and more.

Work location: Primarily on-site at Seven Cycles in Watertown, MA. Sometimes working in the Ride Headquarters mobile van.
