Defining the Climber's Edition

For many riders there is no joy more sublime than scaling a long climb, the effort of it, the rhythm, the simple success of reaching the top. We have built a lot of climb-optimized bikes over the last two decades.

Today, the idea of the perfect climbing bike has changed a little. Drive train efficiency (stiffness) coupled to some reasonable front-end compliance is still a good idea, but what goes up must also come down, so more and more hill climbers are converting to disc brakes. We put together the 622 S Climber's Edition, so those rider's could find everything they want in one, perfect bike.

The 622 S Climber's Edition is a pretty simple machine:

  • We spec carbon fiber for the seat stays and seat tube to lighten the frame slightly, and amplify rear triangle stiffness.
  • Our One-Inch Chainstays and carbon seat stays take that rear-end stiffness up to the max, for optimal power transfer on the way up.
  • Solid reflective decals make a bold, fast statement that also keeps you safer in low light.
  • An Ultegra Di2 groupset with long cage rear derailleur and 11-34 cassette makes shifting simple, reliable, and accurate, even under torque.
    • Hydraulic disc brakes add confidence on the backside of the hill. We've rounded out the package with a pair of super light Industry 9 AR25 disc wheels and a Chris King headset.
