100 Best Bikes

Zahid Sardar

Since 1997, Seven Cycles founder Rob Vandermark and his team in Massachusetts have been making custom high-modulus carbon-fiber, filament-wound carbon fiber, custom-butted, and straight-gauge seamless titanium bike frames, as well as steel road, track, mountain, and tandem frames. Reaming, chasing, machining, welding, molding, finishing, and painting are all carried out under one roof. A custom titanium stem and mountain bike handlebar, a carbon-fiber road fork, as well as aluminum handlebars, stems, and seatposts made on site grace off-the-shelf or custom Seven bikes. Seven selects the right tube diameter and wall thickness to suit a rider's weight, age, and riding terrain, and builds every frame to order. The Kameha SLX, a high-modulus carbon-fiber triathlon bike that is stiff, aerodynamic, and has a slightly sloped top tube and a striking orange and white profile, is among Seven's most expensive bikes. It can be kitted out with SRAM Red, Shimano Di2, or Campagnolo Super Record gearsets, as well as less expensive gearsets. Zipp Zedtech wheels with Tufo Elite Pulse tires and SRAM Red cranks are other options.
